Crime down Clifton Road
It’s lovely weather outside, which is a shame given that lots of people will have lots of days off over the next two weeks (by which time it will be raining again).
One less nice effect of the sunshine is that it seems to attract people who like vandalising things, as local people discovered last night in the Kop area down Clifton Road, where Marauders FC play and where there are some allotments. Some trees were hacked down and some damage done to fileds and allotments last night, in the type of mindless thuggery we’ve seen before down there and which seems to go through a spike when the weather gets warm.
It’s incredibly difficult for the police to stop this from happening. It’s a large, isolated, out of the way part of town and there are plenty of hiding places. I don’t envy them their role in trying to police it. Whilst it’s incredibly annoying and upsetting that this type of thing happens, for me there’s absolutely no question who we should be angry about – not the Police but the swines who commit the crimes.
I have been talking to the Police this morning though, reporting the incidents and finding out what’s going on. With any luck the perpetrators will be found, and the increased level of awareness amongst the Police will stop this happening again. If you see any vandalism or suspicious activity, please do report it. Nobody can do anything about it if nobody knows about it.
